New Organization to Cultivate and Retain Young Professionals in the Region

Reno, Nev. (March 13, 2007) - - Northern Nevada’s only young professional networking group, the Reno  Tahoe Young Professionals Network, hosts a launch event on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 210 North Nightclub to raise awareness of the new organization.

The Reno Tahoe Young Professionals Network cultivates young professionals (ages 21 to 39) living in northern Nevada through a support-system in order to retain and attract young talent to the region. The group supports northern Nevada’s young professionals looking to play a more active role in the community, share resources and participate in networking opportunities.

“The percentage of young professionals in northern Nevada is decreasing and in order to build a base of talent for the new, technology-based jobs in the region we need to create a climate where people 21 to 39 want to live and work,” said Erin Kuo, president of the Reno Tahoe Young Professional Network. “This launch event is intended to celebrate the young professionals currently thriving in the region, and also introduce a new generation who wants to be more actively involved in the community.”

The event is open to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 210 North (210 North Sierra Street). The suggested admission fee is $10 with a business card and $15 without a business card. For more information and to RSVP, visit www.renotahoeypn.com.

The Reno Tahoe Young Professionals Network was created as result of the Target2010 strategic economic planning study conducted by the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN).  The study indicated attracting and retaining young professionals as critical to the future growth of northern Nevada’s economy.  The group has been supported in its formation by EDAWN, the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
